Do shiny objects often deter you from ‘getting after it’ each day and prioritizing what’s important? Listen, in my line of work, I can guarantee you that I’ve heard it all.
‘I don’t have time to workout’, ‘I don’t have the energy’, ‘I’m not motivated’, ‘the days aren’t long enough’… At the risk of sounding a bit judgmental, let me remind you that there’s 24 hours in a day and YOU are in control of your life and your schedule. This means that we can make ANYTHING a priority. Anything…
I came across the Discipline Equals Freedom formula while listening to one of my mentors and favourite podcasters, Jocko Willink. His no nonsense approach to life had me ‘a way’ the second I was introduced to his philosophies.

I came across the Discipline Equals Freedom formula while listening to one of my mentors and favourite podcasters, Jocko Willink. His no nonsense approach to life had me ‘a way’ the second I was introduced to his philosophies. The concept of Discipline Equals Freedom appears to be a bit of a paradox on the surface, but it offers incredible insight that many people don’t fully appreciate and can be applied to just about every facet of our lives.

Discipline creates the daily habits that ensure our desired outcomes. If you want to lose weight for instance, it will never happen if you are not consistently disciplined and condition both your mind and your body to achieve it. Jocko believes that, ‘if you want to be the best at anything, (he) highly recommends that you figure out what sucks the most and do that thing the most. The more we get after the things that truly suck, the better we become.’ This concept can be applied to anything in our lives–health and fitness, being more financially astute, or in business. Having the discipline to do the things that really challenge us every single day of our lives will create the unreasonable daily habits in our lives that deliver the freedom we all seek.

So no more excuses…it’s time to get both physically and mentally strong. Because through strength and unwavering discipline, we become what we want to be..

Easy or light work doesn’t win championships, just ask the Raptors.
